Diplomacy takes many forms, but one of the most unexpected may be art. Art has the power to forge bonds across borders. That’s what drives the work of the U.S. Department of State’s office of Art in Embassies (AIE) and what we capture in our work for the program.
AIE is a public-private partnership engaging over 20,000 participants globally, including artists, museums, galleries, universities, and private collectors, and encompassing over 200 venues in 189 countries.
We’ve designed four multi-lingual catalogs for the program. In each, our goal was to bring the power of these exhibitions and collections to life in a form that can be shared and experienced by an even broader audience. For this 112-page catalog, we printed the cover with metallic ink to emulate the luminescent quality of artist Glen Ligon’s neon Double America. Take a look at the other catalogs we’ve designed for Art in Embassies:
Bucharest, Romania
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Brussels, Belgium | NATO
